For the 13th year, the Midwest Veterans Association is having their Thunder Ride for Homeless Veterans, this Saturday starting at Fat Man’s in Downtown Danville. The Association’s Susan Gutteridge says registration starts at 9 AM , kickstands up at 11; and the ride includes four stops at area VFW and American Legion Posts. Twenty dollars per driver, 10 dollars for each passenger; this is for motorcycles, cars, limos; anyone supporting a very important cause; as 67 percent of the homeless in our country, are Veterans who served us. If you can’t do the Thunder Ride, get over to Fat Man’s later when it’s over. The band Ancient Ways will be playing. There’s a grand prize drawing for a weekend at the resort in French Lick, Indiana; and as Gutteridge points out, some pretty cool silent auction items.
AUDIO: Some of the silent auction item are actually wood burning decorations of each branch of the military. We also have a hand carved wooden eagle, it’s made out of 13 different kinds of wood. The shapes are always the same, but the way they lay it is totally different. This is the only one we have left. And ironically, it was made in Vietnam.

In addition, a special bike, being worked on over at Route 1&36 Cycles in Chrisman, to be given away one year from now, will be unveiled Saturday. Gutteridge says, support our Veterans by buying your chance to win starting Saturday.
AUDIO: Our 1985 FXRS Harley Davidson, that is completely rebuilt. It is called the FREEDOM BIKE. We will have raffle tickets available, 10 dollars each. And we will be giving that bike away August 5, 2023.
