Royal Donut reopened at 5 AM Tuesday morning under its new Mad Goat Coffee ownership. As expected, cars around the corner Vermilion to Fairchild waiting for the drive-thru, people waiting to get inside before 5 AM; and to no one’s surprise, by 9:30 there were briefly down to apple fritters and a few brownies. But they were busy making more, and Clayton from Westville told us out in the parking lot, I’ll be back.
AUDIO: Apply fritters, and I think they said they had a few brownies left. No, I’m not surprised, the line’s been going all the way around the block for quite a while. (Steve: You’ll be back here and try again soon, right?) They said they’d have more at noon. I may try back by around 11:30; see if I can get in the line a little earlier.
Sam George, owner and manager of new Royal Donut owner Mad Goat Coffee, was all smiles during a good first morning at the reopened Royal Donut, saying “Everyone’s been patient and kind.”
Nancy from Danville, waiting inside said this is a great day, and early inventory going fast; hey, what did you expect?
AUDIO: I think it’s a special day for our community. Oh no, not a surprise at all. (Steve: So what’s you’re favorite thing; you’re going to have to come back later?) I’ll probably have to come back to get my favorite one. I like the bavarian creams.
Mad Goat Owner and Manager Sam George was working the Royal Donut cash register. He said, on this reopening day, everyone’s been great.
AUDIO: Absolutely non-stop busy since 5 AM. We’ve had people waiting outside, sometimes for more than an hour. And we’ve just been flying through product. We’re super grateful. Everyone’s been patient and kind. It could’ve been more chaotic, but it’s been a good first day.
The posted hours for the opened Royal Donut are 5 AM to 9 PM daily.
