If you enjoy food, carnival rides, parades or fireworks…the place to head this extended Labor Day weekend is Westville. Bill Pickett has more…
The Westville Lion’s Club is hosting that community’s 111th Labor Day celebration, with St. Mary’s Church also inviting the public to annual events there.
The carnival rides at Westville’s Zamberletti Park will be just part of the attractions there. A schedule of events can be found at http://www.westvillelionsclub.net.
Thousands of people are expected to line Illinois route one (State Street) through Westville for the annual Labor Day Parade which begins at 11:30 a.m.
Some of the Labor Day Weekend events at St. Mary’s Church include Blue Hawaii Night on Friday, a car show from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, and The Brat Pack at Margaritaville on Sunday starting at 7:00 p.m.
Each year the Westville Labor Day celebration honors labor, of course, but it also is used by many families to hold their family reunions.
