The sun refused to shine, but it was a comfortable day and a great turnout for Monday’s Labor Day Parade in Danville. Before it all stepped off, Neuhoff Media had the chance to chat with Mike Wombles of Operating Engineers Local 841, and Shane Dowers from Champaign.
AUDIO: (Mike Wombles) We’re loving in, man. It’s very busy; the infrastructure bills that’s been passed in the state have been very helpful to us and kept a lot of our members busy. (Question: So we’re going to have a good year to the next Labor Day, then?) Oh absolutely, I think the next couple of years look like they’re going to be extremely busy. (Question: Who do you represent, what’s your name please?) Shane Dowers, Local 97 Roofers and Waterproofers out of Champaign. The weather is nice, couldn’t ask for a better day. (Question: And personnel wise, the future of the union; how are we going to have it for 22-23?) We’re hoping for a very good year next year.
Monday’s parade began right on time at 9:30 AM.
