(Ab0ve) The Village Mall Parking Lot, just south of McDonald’s, will be the starting point for this Sunday’s 9/11 Memorial Ride
Anyone who wants to participate in the 9/11 Memorial Ride to support the Fallen Firefighter Fund for the I & I Firefighters Association is welcome to register between 8 and 9:50 AM this Sunday morning, September 11th, in the Village Mall parking lot just south of McDonald’s.
There will be a bike blessing at 9:40 AM, with the bikes departing at 10 AM. This ride is open to all vehicles. Cost to participate is 20 dollars for a single rider, and 10 dollars per passenger. There will be a 50/50 raffle and T-shirts available as well.
Dan Hudson says, there was no advance registration, so just show up, sign up, and participate in a great cause to help First Responders on a very important day. Hudson says the first agenda on the ride will be to cruise past the Memorial at Sunset Memorial Park, to make sure everyone’s seen it.
AUDIO: They’ve got that fire and police memorial, along their main road there, you know. So we make just a lap; we don’t stop or anything we just kind of pass by and see it there and make sure everyone’s aware of it. So if they want to go back any time on their own and actually walk up to it and see it and everything, they can.
And that’s only the beginning. From there, the 9/11 Memorial Ride goes by the VA, makes its way to Perrysville Road, and into Indiana towards Route 63. Eventually, they pass through West Lebanon, and head back into Illinois on Route 119 towards Bismarck. After that, it’s back to Route 1 towards Rossville and Hoopeston; and then on to the Paxton Fire Station for lunch.
From there it’s on to Rantoul, the through Armstrong, Potomac, and over to Oakwood, and eventually Catlin, and then the new fire station at Indianola. The end of the ride passes through Georgetown and Westville; and the ride ends at Robbins in Tilton around 4:30 or so. The Darrell Heath Band will be playing once the ride has concluded.
