Danville’s 47th Annual Vermilion River Fall Festival begins at 5 PM Friday in Ellsworth Park. One of the new items this year is live music will be featured, after not being able to last year due to COVID. There will also be a beer tent 5 to 9 Friday while the live music is going on. Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer says that as always; we’re talking loads of food and craft vendors, and loads of fun events for the kids like bounce houses and face painting.
AUDIO: (It) should be a little bit bigger than last year. And my hope is that we just keep growing every year, and kind of snowball as we go.
And on Saturday, don’t forget that that’s the day for Keep Vermilion County Beautiful’s annual clean up at Ellsworth Park that goes right along with the festival as an annual tradition. Organization president Douglas Toole says, come on out Saturday morning starting at 9 AM if you’d like to help.
AUDIO: It’s a good chance for us to get some of the better traveled areas; and then closer to the river, depending on what the weather’s like that weekend. It’s just picking up some of the litter that tends to accumulate around the park.
Greer says if you’re helping with the clean up dress properly, and definitely be ready for river duty.
AUDIO: Make sure you wear close-toed shoes and proper clothing; and you’re going to get wet. So you’re going to get in the river and pull out all kinds of stuff.
As for the rest of Saturday, Greer reminds us the festival runs 10 AM to 8 PM.
AUDIO: It’s our longest day, it’s also our busiest day with the car show and ponies. There’s just a lot that goes on on Saturday.
Danville’s 47th Annual Vermilion River Fall Festival will wrap up with a 10 to 4 run on Sunday.
