This Sunday, September 25th, the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency (ECICAA) will be hosting their INSPIRE! Fundraiser Concert. This will be 3 to 5 PM at the Fischer Theatre. The agency’s Odette Hyatt-Watson recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, reminding us of just SOME of the services they perform, and for whom.
AUDIO: We help with utility bill assistance, we help with the water bills. We help with community services block grants, which is rental assistance. And also transportation assistance and car repair assistance. There are a multitude of services that we provide here, at the agency, to help customers that are in Vermilion County, Ford, and Iroquois County.
The music will include a 100-person choir, the Danville Barbershop Chorus, and Doc Ashton & the Root Canals; along with some special guests. Chris Huffman, also from the East Central Illinois Community Action Agency, told Laura Williams that this will be “music to lift everyone up.”
AUDIO: So basically this concert is mostly going to be about beautiful, inspiring music. I mean every single song that is performed; people are going to go “oh, I love that song, that’s a wonderful song.” Our goal is that people will leave with a good feeling.
Danville Barbershop Chorus Director Marty Lindvahl, also on the program with Laura, says she’s just happy to have volunteered to help.
AUDIO: You can come early, there will be baskets that are going to be raffled. There will be concessions to buy, and food; you can come an enjoy the root canals for a half hour, and the concert starts at 3. And we have a few speakers.
Doors at the Fischer open at 2 PM Sunday, and as mentioned, Doc Ashton and the Root Canals will start warming everyone up at 2:30.
