The jobs picture in the area from July to August showed no change for Vermilion County as a whole, but a move in the negative direction for the City of Danville.
In Vermilion County, the unemployment rate stayed at 5.7% from July to August. Vermilion County’s rate stood at 6.8% in August of last year.
The City of Danville’s jobless rate rose once again, this time from 6.8% in July to 7.1% in August. Danville’s rate came in at 8.5% in August of 2021.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment showed an increase of 700 jobs overall compared to last August. Looking at more specific categories; gains of 100 jobs compared to August of last year were reported in Construction, Manufacturing, Wholesale Trade; Transportation, Warehousing, and Utilities; Educational Health Services, Leisure and Hospitality, and Government. There was a drop of 100 jobs from one year ago in Professional-Business Services.
