The Illinois Broadcasters Association has announced the finalists for this year’s Silver Dome Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting. Staff members from the Neuhoff Media radio stations in Danville received 13 total nominations in ten different award categories, including:
Best Radio Light Feature: WDAN News Director Steve Brandy received two nominations in this category. One for a year-end wrap on local farming. The other for a report on Unclaimed Purple Hearts in Illinois.
Best Local Radio Newscast: Steve Brandy’s local news at noon on October 20, 2021.
Best Radio PSA for Local Charity/Cause: A PSA for the United Way of the Danville Area, titled “Live United.”
Best Radio Series or Documentary: The “March Forth Moments” series, written by Mike Hulvey. This is the fourth consecutive year that this has been nominated in this category, with wins in 2020 & 2021.
Our coverage of the September 2021 “United Way Radiothon,” and our coverage of the 2021 “Day of Giving” to benefit the Danville Library Foundation each received nominations in the categories of Best Continuing Coverage, along with Best Radio Station Community Service.
Best Commercial Produced on Behalf of an Advertiser: For the commercial produced for the Georgetown Fire Department Pancake Breakfast.

Best Sportscaster: RJ Crace received his third consecutive nomination, having won the award in 2021.
Best Radio News Reporter: News Director Steve Brandy
Best Radio Personality: D102’s Tommy B for “Tommy B’s Big Show,” with a previous win in 2019.
A nomination for a Silver Dome Award means the entry is among the top three in its category in Small Market Radio. The winners will be announced October 25th at the IBA’s Annual Meeting in Normal, IL
