Vermilion County’s COVID transmission rate has returned to the ‘High’ level again. County Health Administrator Douglas Toole says at the High Level, all county residents are advised to get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or boosters, if eligible. In addition, the Vermilion County Health Department is encouraging citizens to wear a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of your vaccination status.
Those local citizens whose immune system is compromised, or who are at high risk for disease, should consider avoiding non-essential indoor activities in public in which you may be exposed.
Vermilion County recorded another COVID-related death last week, taking the county’s total COVID-related death toll to 307. The counting period dates back to March of 2020.
In addition to last week’s COVID-related death, Vermilion County also had 2 hospital admissions related to COVID over the week.
Meanwhile, the SHIELD Illinois team will continue to offer free COVID testing at the Vermilion County Health Department on Tuesday, November 1st and Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Toole says it is a great opportunity to get a free lab-confirmed test.
The following week, COVID testing will be offered from 12-noon until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 10th. The testing will also be offered to the public on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 15th and 16th, at the County Health Department at 200 College Street in Danville between noon and 5 p.m.
