Are we ready for another Potterfest in Downtown Danville? This event, which actually began before the pandemic and is now part of the Downtown Danville’s First Fridays schedule, is set for 5 to 9 PM this Friday November 4th; with a load of afterwards parties at downtown businesses. As Danville Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer told Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, the involvement is all over the place.

AUDIO: I mean this is in partnership with the library; the Fischer Theater. Vermilion River Beer Company and Lovin’ Cup have always been very involved in Potterfest; and then the downtown businesses too. There’s a scavenger hunt. You can pick up the scavenger hunt map at Temple Plaza when you arrive. That scavenger hunt takes you through downtown; and makes to stop at all these businesses to find things. You have to search for all these Harry Potter items inside of their shops.
As Greer points out, the efforts of the Public Library and the Fischer will make those places extra popular.

AUDIO: They are transforming the entire library into a Goblet of Fire experience. The entire fourth book is the theme for this Potterfest. The Fischer is going to be showing the Harry Potter movie, the fourth movie, The Goblet of Fire.

Ashton Greer says, while all that’s going on, plans are being made for both Black Friday in Downtown Danville, and the Night of Lights Parade on Friday, December 2nd.
