Light rain and winds gusting in excess of 50 miles per hour failed to deter those who participated in a Veterans’ 5k in Danville Saturday. Race Director Lisa Knapp of American Legion Post 210 in Danville noted it was not the first time weather impacted the event….
{AUDIO: ‘’We’ve had it as low as 20 degrees and sunny, to a little sun and hot. And today we had rain. So this is a first in the six years that we’ve been doing this.’’}

Knapp says the entry fees and money from sponsors help support local veterans…
{AUDIO: ‘’We give it all to the American Legion Post 210. They distribute that in the way they feel needs. From scholarships, to the VA, to their maintenance fund, it pretty much helps keep all the entities going here at the Legion.’’}

Participants in Saturday’s event ranged from a baby being pushed around the course to some senior citizens. The race started and ended at American Legion Post 210.
