Vermilion County has returned to the LOW Transmission Rate for COVID-19. The announcement from the Vermilion County Health Department notes that at the Low Community Level, residents are advised to get up to date on COVID-19 vaccines or boosters, if eligible.
The 7 day rolling average COVID case rate/ per 100,000 is 27.7. There was only one COVID-19 diagnosed hospital admission in Vermilion County last week, and no COVID-related deaths were reported for the county during the week. The total number of COVID-related deaths in Vermilion County since the pandemic began remains at 307. And the new report from the Vermilion County Health Department says 30-percent of intensive care beds in our region are available.
The SHIELD Illinois team will continue to offer free COVID testing at the Vermilion County Health Department. The tests are available from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9th and Thursday, November 10th. It is an opportunity to get a lab-confirmed test free of charge. The County Health Department is located at 200 College Street in Danville.
There will be a Moderna COVID-booster clinic on Wednesday, November 16th, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Vermilion County Health Department. The clinic is free, and is intended to provide bivalent Omicron booster shots to those ages 18 and older. Interested participants must make an appointment by calling (217) 431-2662, ext. 249.
On the day of the clinic, please arrive no more than 5-10 minutes before your appointment. And please wear short sleeves. It makes it easier and quicker for people to get through the vaccine station.
Also please take your vaccine card with you. If you have lost your vaccination card, please call the provider that issued it in order to get a replacement card.
If you are pregnant, you must have a doctor’s note saying you can receive a COVID vaccination at the Vermilion County Health Department clinic. You no longer need a doctor’s note to receive a COVID vaccination if you are breastfeeding.
You will be asked to remain in an observation area for 15 to 30 minutes after receiving your vaccination.
