As the Vermilion County Board re-organizes it will be missing two long-time leaders. Steve Fourez and Dr. Wesley Bieritz decided not to seek re-election.
Both men are Republicans and both have served as the head of some county board committees.
Dr. Bieritz started his service with the county in 1977 as the county veterinarian. He is a past president of the Danville District 118 School, and has been active with local mental health programs. He has served on the County Board for 8 years.
Fourez has been serving as chairman of the County Board Finance and Personnel Committee which this year held a record number of meetings to improve the salaries of county employees. He has served on the County Board for 16 years.
Fourez told members of the County Board at their November 15th meeting that heading into the new fiscal year the county is in relatively good financial shape. He said revenues are running 114-percent ahead of what was projected in the budget, and all fund balances are in good shape.
