Danville City Council members have approved the purchase of seven properties along Robinson Street to help with the relocation of the Kirchner Building Center. The properties are all in the 900 block of North Robinson Street (at 924, 926, 929, 931, 933, 934 and 936 Robinson Street).
Kirchner will be moving its Building Center from its current location at 508 West Williams into the former Goodwill building at Gilbert and Fairchild Streets.
Kirchner’s Vice-President of Operations, Torey Ryan, said earlier that his company is cramped at its Williams Street location. He said the company is excited about the opportunity to expand at the northwest corner of Gilbert and Fairchild. The move will help the city with its plans to remove a jog along west Williams Street.
Also during the city council’s meeting, Aaron Marcott was officially sworn-in as Danville’s new fire chief. He addressed some firefighters and others in the audience after taking his oath…
{AUDIO: ‘’I hope by the time I’m done serving as Fire Chief in the fire department, I hope all of you that believed in me so much now – can still feel that way, or more. Lastly, I thank our community. The life you have given me, and my family, and my friends, has been tremendous.’’}
Marcott replaces Don McMasters who retired.
And the Danville City Council held a public hearing on the City’s Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget. No one spoke out during the very short hearing.
