(Above) A yet to be named animal robot purchased for DACC students from Stokes Robotics.
The Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees had a visit from Robotics students during their meeting this past Thursday. They also had a visit from a robotic animal the students had been working on. As Professor of Technology Doug Hunter explains, the animal was something DACC acquired recently, giving the students even more creative ideas.

Danville Area Community College Professors of Technology Doug and Kathy Hunter address the DACC Board of Trustees along with Robotics students.
AUDIO: The features that we’ve added recently have just been for Christmas and things like that. We have the capability of adding; we haven’t had it long enough. But these guys understand the software and the hardware that’s in there, so they could add pretty much anything they wanted to. It was purchased from Stokes Robotics. (The idea is to have) as many examples as we can have to show our students what’s possible. There’s so many modalities in robotics; it’s hard to imagine what could be done.
DACC Robotics student Gage Hopkins from Hoopeston says it’s great to get the robotics students, and students studying to be electricians, working together.
AUDIO: From a coding side I’d say it’s not too bad. (It’s) pretty much just you’re helping the electrician students a little bit, and the electrician students are also helping us a little bit. It’s pretty much a team effort when it comes to building the robots.
