Some big plans for the new year are being worked on at the OSF Bobette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care Center. As Oncologist Dr. Jomel Labayog tells us, he’d love to have a new partner on staff once the renovations are complete.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: Presently we only have two exam rooms, right? So we hope to have a second medical oncologist in the future, to accommodate for the needs of the community. We’ll eventually have five exam rooms. And hopefully that will make things more comfortable, safer, and more private for our patients as they come and see their health care providers.

Judi Miles, Patient Care Manager for Medical and Radiation Oncology at OSF, says providing care for more people at one time is definitely the plan; along with having similar specific services at all OSF downstate cancer centers; via technology.

If all goes well, the expanded facility should be done this coming April. Also happening at OSF in 2023, plans for their mobile health center Care-A-Van to expand what it can do, and provide clinical services when it goes out into the community.
