Investigators remained on the scene of a fire in a commercial building in Danville Friday night (December 30, 2022) long after the blaze was extinguished.

Firefighters found heavy smoke rolling from the building at 805 North Vermilion Street when they arrived there. The alarm sounded at 5:54 p.m.
The building housed a bicycle shop along with other items. Damage was heavy even though firefighters were able to mount an interior attack against the flames. All total there were twenty Danville Firefighters on the scene.

No information was immediately available on a dollar estimate of damage, or whether there were any injuries.
As the investigation continued Friday night, authorities roped off the building with yellow caution tape to keep spectators away.
The building is located along the east side of North Vermilion Street, about a block south of Fairchild Street in Danville.
