As we look forward to getting further into the year and closer to spring, the City of Danville is set for its next two “first Friday of the month” events. The February 3rd First Friday event, the Progressive Dinner, is already sold out. But as Community Relations Administrator Ashton Greer told Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show, the most wonderful thing about this “moving on to a different course of your dinner every 30 minutes” event is how many local businesses are involved.
AUDIO: It starts at the Fischer, and then it goes on to the Vermilion River Beer Company and Lovin’ Cup; they’re doing a hot sandwich and a drink. And than from there it goes to Obsidian Coffee; and the Slotted Spoon is partnering, they’re actually making these really delicious layered trifle deserts. And then the last stop is at the Heron. They’re doing shrimp dishes, and they’ll have the bar open and blues bands for the evening.

The March 3rd First Friday’s event will be the return of Danville’s Got Talent at the Fischer. As Greer points out, they’ve been holding auditions, and this time the audience will be able to be there live.
AUDIO: Last year we had to live stream. And it caught about 15,000 views on the live stream; that was kind of amazing, I think people all over were watching it. But this year, no, it’s in person; we’ll be setting tickets. They’re just five dollars through the Fischer box office. They’re not for sale yet, but they will be online. You can also buy them at the door.
