Danville Area Community College has been awarded a $302-thousand-dollar Illinois Works Diversity Grant. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity is expanding its statewide network of providers to recruit, prescreen, and provide pre-apprenticeship skills training for the construction and building trades.
Participants in the program attend tuition-free and receive a stipend and other supportive, barrier reduction services to help enter the construction industry.
Governor Pritzker says it will help train students for jobs that are currently available and those expected in the future…

In addition to the Danville Area Community College award, the Associated Builders & Contractors, Illinois Chapter, Inc. serving Champaign-Urbana is receiving just under $240-thousand dollars. Both DACC and the Associated Builders & Contractors are new grant recipients under the program.
Upon completion of the program, pre-apprentices receive industry aligned certifications qualifying them to continue to a registered apprenticeship program in one of the trades.
