With Danville’s new Golden Nugget Casino getting ready to open sometime this spring, dealer training is available starting Monday, February 13th out at Danville Area Community College. You can sign up through February 20th. Golden Nugget’s Chris Hawkland told Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show that this kind of training to become a casino dealer is a rare opportunity.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: (It’s) free vocational training. Normally you have to pay to go to college, or get a trade skill and what not. But the the Golden Nugget is supplying the resources. They’ll train everyone to deal all your favorite table games; blackjack, roulette, craps, etc. Normally, a program like this would cost you several thousand dollars if you went to some paid training for dealer school. But we’re supplying the everything, we just need applicants to come down. You can come down 10 to 3 Monday through Friday and just sign up. Walk-ins are available.
Hawkland says the place to sign up on the DACC campus is right at the building off to the left as you come in off Main Street where the truck driver training is located. You can also sign up online at Indeed.com or Ziprecruiter.com.
Hawkland says two four-hour classes are offered each day for flexibility. If you complete the eight week training, you can not only work locally; but you’ll have the skills to work at casinos worldwide. He also says; remember it’s not just learning how to deal the games, but being interactive with people as well.
