THE FOLLOWING IS A STATE HOUSE REPUBLICANS RELEASE
State Representative Mike Marron (R-Fithian) is sponsoring three bills during the spring legislative session which would fund three major infrastructure needs in his district. Marron said these projects are of major importance to the economic development and future growth in the three largest communities he represents.
One those bills, HB2200 would appropriate funds from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for the development and extension of certain water and wastewater infrastructure along the western portion of U S 150 (Martin Luther King Drive) to the U.S. 150 – I-74 Interchange.
Marron says this kind of work is critically important, and often put aside.
AUDIO: It’s just as traditionally underfunded as transportation projects. This is just as vital to economic development, it’s vital to protection of the environment, and to the health and well being of our citizens. The city of Danville has faced some pretty strong economic diversity over the last several decades; and has a very large underserved population.
Vermilion Advantage CEO Tim Dudley pointed out that Danville’s east side, along Lynch Road, could use some similar work.
AUDIO: We’re running out of project space out in that area on Lynch Road. So it’s vitally important to take this water and wastewater infrastructure out to what we call the Westgate Project. We have land out there that’s available. And the only way we get these shovel-ready projects is to get this infrastructure money to get these waste water and water lines (in place).
Other Bills sponsored by Marron include House Bill 2199 which would appropriate money from the Road Fund to the Department of Transportation for construction of the Curtis Road Grade Crossing in Savoy; and House Bill 2201 which would appropriate funds from the Build Illinois Bond Fund to the Department of Transportation for the demolition of abandoned buildings on the campus of Lincoln’s Challenge Academy in the Village of Rantoul, which is on the old Chanute Air Force Base property.
