THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On 02/25/23 around 10:57 am, Danville Police responded to the Danville High School Field House in reference to a large fight in progress. Upon arrival officers learned that no one was actively fighting at that time and the individuals involved had begun to leave the scene.
During follow-up investigation, officers learned that there had been an elementary aged basketball game at the DHS Field House and during the event, an unknown dispute occurred. This dispute escalated and several fights broke out amongst the parents, students and fans. It has been reported that during the altercation an individual involved was armed with a handgun. Danville Police and D118 officials are reviewing witness statements and school surveillance video to identify the individuals involved.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.
