A wonderful double-header happened over the weekend for Danville Area Community College basketball, as both the men’s and women’s teams made the NJCAA Division II national tournaments. Men’s coach DaJuan Gouard and his Jaguars defeated Parkland 71-47 in Champaign to earn a spot in the DACC-hosted Division II National Tournament scheduled for March 21st – 25th.
Meanwhile, Coach Erika Harris’ Lady Jaguars are on their way to Port Huron, Michigan; after their win on Sunday over Land Land College.
DACC Athletic Director Tim Bunton says both teams are very much deserving of this.
AUDIO: Oh, it’s fantastic. It’s just wonderful for our coaching staff, and our kids who have put in all the time and hours and classroom and work, and early morning weights. And it’s just a good group of kids on both the men’s and women’s side. They deserve this. They’ve worked extremely hard.
Tuesday afternoon (March 14th) there will be a pair of watch parties at DACC’s Mary Miller Gymnasium, starting at 1 PM, as both teams find out who their opening round opponents will be.
