The players involved in this week’s games at the NJCAA Division II Mens National Basketball Tournament in Danville are being watched by more than their fans. Dozens of coaches and scouts from four-year colleges and universities come to Danville each year searching for talented players.
Jeanie Cooke is Director of the Danville Area Visitors Bureau and says they welcome the coaches and scouts…
{AUDIO: ‘’We always have around a hundred (or) a little more, very often that come to look at talent. Because in a community college – of course – they only play two years. So instead of traveling to all the schools all over the country they can come to Danville, Illinois and see a lot of the high level recruits in one location.’’}
And, of course that means you have a chance of spotting some of those coaches and scouts in the stands.
This is the 30th year for the games at Danville Area Community College, and a decision is expected soon on whether the city will get to continue hosting the National Tournament.
If you are unable to attend the games in-person, you can listen to them on WDAN 1490 am Radio, or as they are streaming on Vermilioncountyfirst.com and the NJCAA Network. They are also being shown locally on Comcast channel 5.
