The overall jobs outlook for Vermilion County and the City of Danville fell back from the month of January to the month of February.
In Vermilion County the unemployment rate increased from 5.7% in January to six percent flat in February. Vermilion County’s rate stood at 5.8% in February of 2022.
The City of Danville’s jobs picture dropped as well, with the unemployment rate increasing from 5.9% in January to 6.1% in February. Danville’s rate in February of 2022 was 5.4%.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says the latest numbers have not been seasonally adjusted.
Also in Vermilion County, total non-farm employment did show an increase of 500 jobs overall when comparing February of 2023 with February of 2022. Looking at more specific categories, Government jobs were up by 400, while gains of 100 jobs were all found in Construction, Wholesale Trade, Leisure and Hospitality, Transportation-Warehousing-Utilities, Educational and Health Services, and Manufacturing. However, a drop of 100 jobs from a year ago was reported in Financial Activities, and a drop of 400 jobs from a year ago was found in Professional Business Services.
