Tuesday (April 4th) is the day for the 2023 Consolidated Election. Director Sandy Delhaye and the Danville Election Commission will be keeping eye on the Danville mayor’s race, Danville City Council alderman races, Danville District 118 Board elections, and also Danville’s part of the vote on the proposed additional one percent sales tax for schools.
Delhaye says, operations are ready to go.
AUDIO: So our polls open at 6 o’clock in the morning, and we’re open until 7 at night. The thumb drives and the ballots will come back here to our office. They will be imputed into the computer and uploaded to our website. So as they come in; they may be like one now, and two will come up together; but they will all be posted as soon as we have the results.
Meanwhile, Vermilion County Clerk Cathy Jenkins and her office will be handling everything else on the ballot countywide. When we spoke to Jenkins on Friday (March 31st), she said early voting had been solid, and a good team of judges is in place for the polling sites on Tuesday. The county’s sites will also open at 6 AM in the morning, and close at 7 PM in the evening.
AUDIO: It looks pretty good. We’ve got about 650 mail-in ballots that we’ve already gotten. And we’ve got 200 early voting ballots, which is a little down quite a bit from the general, but that was to be expected. But that’s a pretty good turn out for a consolidated. So we’re anticipating we’ll see a nice decent turnout, hopefully.
