April 24: Anime & Gaming Club. Join us after school each Monday for a fun mix of Anime and Gaming! Meet us in the Teen Zone to watch anime, have snacks, and play video games together! 4:00 p.m. in the Teen Zone.
April 25: Wee Wigglers Story Time. Action rhymes, stories, and songs for children age 5 and under. 10:00 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
April 25: Secrets of the Puzzle Master: A Conversation with Will Shortz. Will Shortz, the editor of The New York Times crossword puzzle, and the world’s only academically accredited puzzle master, discusses crossword puzzles. In honor of this event, Will Shortz has created a special crossword puzzle all about Illinois. 7:00 p.m. only on Zoom. Register at bit.ly/ILP_WillShortz
April 25: Tween It! Tuesdays. Fun programs for tweens each Tuesday. 4:30 p.m. in the Children’s Room. Ages 8-13. This week: Board Game Night. Play your favorite game with your friends.
April 26: Dungeons & Dragons. A table-top role-playing game that allows teens to quest for treasures and fame, or at the very least hunt enemies. New players always welcome! Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. in the Teen Zone.
April 27: Anything Tech for Teens. Introducing teens to some of the library’s cool technology, including 3D Printing, 3D Pens, Sphero Balls, Cricut, and a Flight Simulator. Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. in the Teen Zone.
April 27: Murder & a Meal Book Club. Our murder mystery book club includes dinner (because who doesn’t love a good meal while discussing murder?) We meet at the Library to choose a restaurant and then go out for dinner and book discussion! This month’s book is Hanging by a Hair by Nancy Cohen. 4:30 in the Linda Bolton Gathering Space. Please note: The Library does not pay the cost of your dinner.
April 29: Hear It, See It, Make It, Take It: Sensory Story Time. Sensory program designed for youth of various ability levels including differently-abled youth. Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room.
April 29: Saturday Movie Matinee. Join us for a family-friendly movie in the Children’s Room every Saturday at noon. Children and Tweens welcome!
April 29: Orphaned Kitty-Corner. Orphaned Kitty-Corner will visit Danville Public Library. Read kitty stories, make a kitty craft, and learn about kitty rescue. 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Program Room (aka Words & Music Book Store) All ages event.
Children’s Art Challenge: Send us a photo of your (child’s) art and we will post it on both Facebook and our Website. Winners will be chosen at the end of the month. Submissions must be family-friendly. This month’s Challenge is “Spring Things” To submit your work visit tinyurl.com/DPL-KidArt
Coloring Contest for all ages: Color a picture, win a prize. Return entries by the end of the month. Entries will be displayed in the Children’s Room. Winners will be notified. Interactive Movie Experience: Play games while you watch your favorite movies! Available on a first come first served basis. Call 217-477-5225 for the list of movies and to reserve your movie packet.
Tablets for Tweens. Danville Public Library’s Children’s Department is excited to announce that we have iPads available for Tween use. The iPads are pre-installed with games and apps that are sure to capture the imagination and promote lifelong learning. Tweens can make videos with Stop Motion Studio, record music with GarageBand, design graphics with Canva, and so much more!
Teen Craft: This month’s craft is an egg decorating craft. We will use hollow eggs and decorate them! Teen Crafts are available on a drop-in basis, in the Teen Zone.
