This Saturday morning will be the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event, starting at 10 AM in Temple Plaza. It’s a walk to raise funding for the Survivor Resource Center and their work to help victims of sexual violence. Guys who participate, as always, are not required to but very much encouraged to wear high heels during the walk to literally “walk in HER shoes.” The Center’s Brooke Kuchefski recently joined Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show.
AUDIO: It is the International Men’s March to End Violence Against Women. So, it’s an invitation for men to come out, put on those heels, and literally walk a mile in someone else’s shoes.
Tricia Keith also joined Tommy B, talking about the very involved mission of the Survivor Resource Center.
AUDIO: Say we get a call, there’s a survivor at the hospital. Yes, we respond, but that’s not all we do. It goes way more than that; with the legal advocacy, the counseling, the prevention education. So many things are coming into play that our agency does, and it is vital that we keep going and keep growing.
Cost to walk on Saturday is $15 dollars each, or $10 each for groups of four or more. And starting this year, those ten and under walk for free. Just to go survivorrecoursecenter.org, check out the Survivor Resource Center Facebook page, stop by their office at 27 North Vermilion, or stop by Temple Plaza between 9 and 9:45 AM Saturday to register for the 10 AM event.
