THE FOLLOWING IS AN ARCADIA CARE RELEASE
Danville, IL, April 18, 2023– From 9AM- 11AM on Friday April 21st Arcadia Care and Cannon Place staff will be set up in the drive area of Arcadia Care (1701 N Bowman Ave – Danville) accepting donations of items to help stock the newly renovated Essentials Closet at the Cannon Place community.
Mercy Housings Cannon Place is a 65 unit independent living apartment complex uniquely located on the former golf course grounds of the Danville VA. The community is available only for residents (both local and from outside of the area) with Veteran status who are currently homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness.
Although they have been open for a handful of years it has been largely unknown that this wonderful resource exists right here in Vermilion County. The current Property Management have previously worked in Senior Care and have been thankful to those in the local area like Arcadia Care that have stepped up to become
community partners and have helped to stock pantries, provided a coffee bar and popcorn maker, etc..
The Essentials Pantry at Cannon Place provides personal care items and cleaning items so that residents can keep their units in proper order. Those who have experienced homelessness and/or housing instability may often need additional support to re-learn basic housekeeping tasks and having the proper supplies for the job
is a big part of their success. While donations of personal care items are brought into the building often, household cleaning items are not. Cannon Place requests non-bleach cleaners to avoid damage to carpets etc. in the units.
Arcadia Care will be entering all who make a donation on this day into a raffle drawing. In addition, arrangements can be made to pick up donations if needed.
