About 53-thousand real estate tax bills will soon be heading to Vermilion County taxpayers. County Treasurer Darren Duncan says the bills will hit the outgoing mail on Friday, April 28th. The first installment of the bills is due June 16th, and the second installment is due on September 1st.
Duncan says the total amount of real estate taxes due this year is $100-million, 731-thousand dollars. He expects about 60-percent of that amount to be distributed to the various taxing bodies in the county on July 1st. Duncan adds many people have already paid their bill as they made their house payments. The money is sitting in escrow accounts at their financial institution.
Taxpayers can get information about their bill now, even though they have not been mailed yet. The County Treasurer says that information is available on the County’s website at www.vercounty.org. Just look on the bottom of the homepage for the search link or online tax inquiry. The information is also on the Vermilion County Treasurer’s website where you can click on the tax bill link. Duncan says you can search for information using the address, name, or parcel identification number.
In addition to disbursing about 60-percent of the money collected to taxing bodies on July 1st, Duncan added other distributions are planned in September and November.
