They are doing it this Saturday (April 29th), and the plan is to do it every year. Rob Gifford has been Executive Director of Boys and Girls Club of Danville for ten years. He had been thinking about a new, annual fundraiser; but was slowed down by the COVID pandemic. But now, this Saturday in the David S Palmer Arena, their “1st Annual Supporting Kids’ Futures” Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser will be ready to roll.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: This will be our first, and then it will become our signature event each year. You know, sponsorships help us raise money, and then we want to make it fun by having competition with teams. So the registration starts at 11, and so we’ll find out then how many teams come out; but the more we can get the better.
Any two person team that wants to compete, all you have to do is come in between 11 and 12:30 and sign up, and be ready to go at 12:30. They will have Competitive and Recreational divisions.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: You know there’s some players that are a lot better and very competitive, and then there’s some that just like to play for fun. So we tried to have two divisions so that people of both sides can take part in it.
To sign up before Saturday, just google “Boys and Girls Club of Danville” and go to their website or Facebook page.
