Vermilion County Health Department Environmental Health Director Jana Messmore has turned down an offer to lead the overall department as Public Health Administrator. As she explained to Neuhoff Media, prior to the meeting of the Vermilion County Board of Health earlier this week, she decided her current position is quite fulfilling, and she will remain there.
AUDIO: I am very happy in Environmental Health. And after considering it for a very long time, I decided that I would just be happier staying in Environmental Health in the long run. The position will be posted here soon.
Messmore has been serving as interim Public Health Administrator since Douglas Toole resigned last November 16th. Recently, Toole’s attorney commented to Neuhoff Media about an agreement Toole had reached with the Board of Health that restored Toole’s pay until the date of the agreement, March 27th; plus an additional three months of severance pay.
