Danville City Engineer Sam Cole says one area he is eyeing for possible safety improvements via grants is Seminary Street, from Carver Park east to Bowman Avenue. During a May 18th Traffic Safety Open House at Carle at the Riverfront, various displays showed different ways that traffic safety could be improved for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
Cole says data collected concerning the aforementioned section of Seminary shows four serious pedestrian crashes and significant car accidents that involved injuries over the last five years.

And that’s a corridor that we can make improvements on, and do a lot of good. So that’s one that we’re working on.
Cole says the data collected was countywide, through the Danville Area Transportation Study, with special focus on local roads.
