Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates received an affirmative answer when he asked if the SIHF clinic at the high school will be able to provide sports physicals for the coming school year.
SIHF Corporate Director for Communications and Strategies Beth Ann Gailey stated that it’s been a wonderful start with the FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) at the high school.
AUDIO: I think so. You know we started the school based health center in January; and I think that we’re really looking to relaunch as we look into registration for the coming year, and get more families involved.
As for the second FQHC, for the entire community, that SIHF has planned for Danville; that continues to be a work in progress. The plan has called for a clinic to be built at the old St. Elizabeth Hospital site, along with a possible temporary location on the OSF campus. Vice-President of Operations Gail Chellis says things are still being looked into, especially as to where the temporary site might be. She says the idea is to have a temporary site that can be there the entire time that the permanent site is being worked on.
AUDIO: We are still working on locating various clinics to be able to locate faster in Danville, outside of the time that it would take to build a brand new center. So, we are looking for various sites to be able to go into in the near future, versus waiting until we have a site built.
Chellis says Business and Development Strategies at SIHF continues to research future options in Danville.
