Arts in the Park Board president Shannon Schroeder recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, reminding everyone that the annual event is coming up Saturday, June 24th; and Sunday, June 25th in Lincoln Park. Schroeder says the event goes back to 1989, with a solid mission that has developed over the years.
AUDIO: Bring art to the community in a way where they can touch it and experience it. We combine stage performances, so live art; along with art that is physically made. We have vendors there, where you can actually meet the artists that have created the pieces. And then you can purchase a piece, if you like.

Schroeder also says that if you want a great example of how Arts in the Park brings art to the people and makes it accessible, just head over to the Children’s Area.
AUDIO: Even if you don’t have young children, when you get up there, take a peak at what’s happening in that children’s tent. Because these kids are getting messy, they are experiencing, they are creating. And they take their pieces home with them.
And in addition to loads of entertainment on stage, there will be the traditional Saturday car show.
