Last school year it was doing something special for Veterans. This school year, it’s been doing something to make everyone feel positive about their neighborhood and local schools; and especially, to make sure teachers feel appreciated. They developed PROJECT “L.E.N.S.” which stands for “Locally Elevating our Neighborhood and Schools.”
An addition to this school year’s project was the recording of a weekly blog at WDAN/D102/K-Rock/Neuhoff Media on the purpose and progress of PROJECT L.E.N.S. These blogs can be heard by going to https://vermilioncountyfirst.com/danville-hs-future-problem-solvers-podcast/
Faculty Advisor Lori Woods and the Danville High School Future Problem Solvers are on their way to the University of Massachusetts Amherst for the Future Problem Solvers International Conference. They’ll be competing to show why their project has been the best and most worthwhile in the world. As Lori Woods explains; she’ll be there, but it’s all in the hands of the students.

AUDIO: First thing we’re judged at is setting up their display booth. And that’s a huge part of it. They’re hoping to defend our title, because last year we were the International Display Booth champion for the Senior Division. Then they will go through an interview process. And for the whole thing I’m not involved. I just sit there and watch. I don’t even sit in the room while they set up their display booth.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped the DHS Future Problem Solvers raise the money needed for this trip. And senior Isaiah Easton says they’re ready.
AUDIO: I’m really excited. I think we have a good chance of winning. Last year’s project was good. I think this year’s measures up to last year’s for sure. I’m really excited to compete.
The Future Problem Solvers will be hitting the road Saturday, with opening ceremonies next Wednesday, June 7th. Most of the competition will be Thursday the 8th and Friday the 9th.
The students making the trip will include Gavin Baugh, Addison Ohlmiller, Isaiah Easton, Cole Montel, Colton Stahl, Maya Hale, Abigail Rice, David Estes, Ethan Fox.
