The Vermilion County Museum is now accepting entries for its 40th Midwest Heritage Quilt Show. Museum Director Sue Richter says various types of entries are being accepted for display at the museum during July….
Audio Player{AUDIO: ‘’People are able to enter quilts and they do not have to be the individual that quilted them. Sometimes they are family heirlooms that they have. Sometimes Aunt Martha did one – gave it to me as a wedding present – type thing. ….. It’s our general way to be able to showcase the artwork of quilts to the community.’’
Ribbons will be awarded in 8 categories. A $5-dollar fee per quilt is charged to have them critiqued. Richter notes they are not competing against other quilts….
Audio Player{AUDIO: ‘’Each one actually competes against itself. It’s not like fair quilting where if you only have three entries they get first, second and third. No. They’re judged each one individually on their workmanship, their quality, color, design, layout – everything.’’}
Participants may enter a maximum of two quilted items, and those entered last year are not eligible.
Quilts may be taken to the Vermilion County Museum during its regular hours – Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The Midwest Heritage Quilt Show is sponsored by Threads of Time Creative Sewing & Retreat Center in Danville.
