Also approved was allotting $12-thousand dollars in MFT funds for a feasibility study for making safety improvements along a 3.5-mile stretch of Perrysville Road, southeast of Danville. Another $80-thousand dollars in Motor Fuel Tax Funds will go toward preliminary engineering work for improvements along a four-mile stretch of Shake Rag Road.
Also during their meeting, County Board members heard a request from Chaplain Cleveland Taylor seeking funding to help start a half-way house. He said it would be used to assist inmates when they are released from custody. Taylor said $40-thousand dollars would go a long way towards establishing the new half-way house….
{AUDIO: ‘’It’s not the guns that cause the problem. It’s not the casino that causes the problem. It’s the people that cause the problem. And I think our churches have to fess up, and try to win as many souls of Christ, and try to do as much as we can to address the moral fiber of our nation and of our city.’’}
And the County Board approved leasing some space at the Vermilion County Health Department to the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District. Some services offered by the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District are designed to supplement those of the Vermilion County Public Health Department.
Only 15 County Board members were present for Tuesday evening’s meeting. The other 12 were absent so the Board had to postpone action on some budget amendments. It was because they require two-thirds of all County Board members to approve them.
