For well over the last couple decades, part of the summer College for Kids program at Danville Area Community College has been the Neuhoff Media Sports Media Camp; started by 1490 WDAN sportscaster and Neuhoff Media CEO Mike Hulvey. For a full week, students interested in any kind of sports media career; from announcing, to writing, to camera and technical work; get to hear from professionals and learn some basic skills.
Quite often, the students return to the camp multiple times. Cooper McCarty is going into his senior year at Armstrong-Potomac High School, and is back this year for a second time. He sees the media camp as the beginning of what he plans to do.

For some repeat Neuhoff Media Camp students, like Holden Hightower, they might have other things that they want to do in the future. But on the other hand, a little sportscasting on the side can sound like a pretty cool idea.

Mike Hulvey points out that veterans of this camp have gone on to some amazing media work, both in and out of sports.

AUDIO: Look no further than Luke Steiner and Jordan Anderson. Both started with us when they were in middle school. When Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles hosted the Super Bowl, they both were working in paid positions at the Super Bowl, as two former campers. And we learned last week that one of our former campers, Damon Hayes, is now an intern at the White House.
Former Neuhoff Sports Media Campers Jordan Anderson and Luke Steiner pose in the end zone of ScFi Stadium in Los Angeles during the weekend of Super Bowl LVI between the Rams and Bengals.
And during this Thursday evening’s (June 22nd) Danville Dans game, which will be heard on vermilioncountyfirst.com; the broadcast will include guest appearances by Neuhoff Sports Media campers.
