Democratic State Senator Paul Faraci and Republican State Rep Mike Marron will be the featured guests at a Braver Angels event on workforce development set for Wednesday night (June 28th) at Rantoul High School. Braver Angels is an organization described as getting “red” and “blue” politicians together to have bipartisan conversations. Senator Faraci says he was contacted by former 13th District Congressional candidate Matt Hausman.
AUDIO: And what he did was he reached out to me and Representative Marron and said “do you want to be part of (what I call non-partisan…..some people say bipartisan) this non-partisan event where we’re going to talk about issues relative to the community, and how we can work together as a community, put politics aside, for workforce development and economic development?” I think the world of Representative Marron. He and I have known each other for years.
Marron also sees this as a great chance to bring input from residents, and to work together.
AUDIO: I certainly have a good relationship with Senator Faraci, and he’s good to work with. We don’t always agree on everything; but that’s really what this event is about. It’s trying to bridge that political gap, and create a venue where people that may have differing opinions can come and learn to respect each other. And hopefully that’s an example we can set for the entire state.
Wednesday evening’s Braver Angels event at Rantoul High School is set for 5:30 to 7:30. Space is limited.
