As power was being restored to numerous parties Sunday afternoon, Danville Police Chief Christopher Yates thanked everyone for their assistance and perseverance.
AUDIO: I can’t say enough for what city Public Works has done, and worked around the clock; and the utilities companies who are putting the power back on. It seems like it’s slow. But if you look at how broad the area was it’s not just Danville and Vermilion County but it’s other counties all the way across. It’s got to be taxing on the utilities; but they have everyone out in force, and they’re working just as fast as they can to get everybody restored.

Danville Mayor Rickey Williams, Jr was especially happy with how quickly Danville streets were cleared.
AUDIO: The fact that we were able to have all the roads cleared within two days; compared to the storm of 2004, which took two weeks. There’s still a lot of clean up that needs to be done, but the folks from Public Works have done an incredible job. Ameren has been great getting things back on line.
