Danielle Turner was the Georgetown Fair Queen ten years ago. And like so many other former reigning queens, her heavy involvement with the event continues. Joining Tommy B on D102’s The Big Show recently, Turner reminded everyone how the earlier Georgetown Fair will allow 4H winners to keep their animals at the fair, instead of having to take off right away for State Fair competition in Springfield. That means more animals on the grounds all week long, which many have asked about for years.
AUDIO: It’s interesting. Every year, previously, people will walk through the barns; and they’re like “Well, where’s the animals?” And it’s sad because we have to let them go to the State Fair, and we want kids to go to the State Fair. So this year, fingers crossed, you’ll have a lot more animals to see.

The fair opens Saturday, July 8th; the queen pageant is Monday the 11th, and the carnival opens Tuesday the 12th. The rodeo has been moved to Friday night, and the new Buckets N Boards Comedy Percussion Show is set for Thursday. And as Danielle explained to Tommy B, Tuesday and Wednesday nights are certainly some favorites of hers.
AUDIO: Tuesday we have our Barnyard Tractor Pull in front of the grandstands. And then indoors once again, in that air conditioning is the talent contest. I think we’re already up to 14 entries for that, so we’re gearing up for a good night in the Banquet Center. And then that’s leading us into Wednesday; where we have the “big boys,” is what we like to call them, for the Truck and Tractor Pull. (The one’s where you need the earplugs for , right?) Yes, that’s a good way to describe it! The big, black smoke; right?
Kiddie Day and the Kiddie Tractor Pull are on Saturday the 15th, before the Georgetown Fair closes out that night with the Drew Baldridge and Rodney Atkins concert.
