It has been a long road for Seven Point of Illinois CEO Brad Zerman since the Danville City Council’s approval of a Cannabis Dispensary on the west side of the Lynch Road corridor in November of 2021.
But after waiting out lawsuits against the state from prospective licensees that did not win the lottery to start operations, to a footprint change so the building will face north towards Golden Nugget Casino instead of east towards Lynch Road; a 12 noon groundbreaking on Monday, July 24th is scheduled.
Zerman says there will be lots of individuals to introduce on the 24th.
AUDIO: We’re going to have a bunch of people from Reed Construction coming out; all the people that really we’ve been talking to for the last few months to get ready; several of our partners from the project who haven’t yet been to Danville, including some of our social equity partners.
Zerman also says, indications are they could open doors for business at the end of March, 2024. He says Reed Construction out of Chicago plans to be substantially competed on the building by February.
Seven Point of Illinois will be the second dispensary along the Lynch Road corridor. Sunnyside is already operating on the east side of Lynch Road. A third interested party, Parkway Dispensaries, was voted down by the Danville City Council and is now building in Tilton along Georgetown Road. A fourth interested party, MariWorks, LLC; withdrew their petition after not receiving a recommendation from the Danville Planning and Zoning Commission. There has been discussion among aldermen since the commission’s vote about perhaps allowing cannabis dispensaries in other locations in Danville besides along the Lynch Road corridor.
