The Friday, July 14th STEPUP meeting at Second Church of Christ in Danville focused heavily on healthcare, especially for women and early childcare. One of the speakers was OSF Sacred Heart president Ned Hill. He stated that, yes, September 1st remains the targeted reopening date for their birthing center. In addition, when the birthing center closed last October, it was because their providers had left. So after doing some research and considering options, Hill says OSF Sacred Heart has entered into a contract to make sure that the birthing center will always be staffed with doctors and be ready to go.

So if there happens to be one provider that leaves, they would bring in a replacement provider. They’re called OBHG, so it’s a national company that provides physicians to hospitals for labor delivery services.
OBHG, Ob Hospitalist Group, is active in 38 states; and based in Greenville, South Carolina.
Meanwhile, Danville mayor Rickey Williams, Jr also spoke at Friday’s STEPUP meeting. He wanted to make sure everyone was aware that at 1000 East Voorhees, Illinois Family Planning Centers is now operating the Danville Family Planning Center at a previous bank location.
