THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE
On 07/16/23 around 9:04 pm Danville Police responded to the area of Bowman Ave and Griggs St in reference to a report of a pedestrian having just been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a 58-year-old Danville man with severe injuries. The victim was transported to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
During follow-up investigation, officers learned a red colored Chevrolet Blazer appeared to intentionally strike the victim before fleeing the scene. Officers located the suspect vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Martin St. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle who was identified as 39-year-old Lou Ann St. Onge of Danville. Officers discovered that St. Onge and the victim were in a dating relationship. St. Onge was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Danville Public Safety Building where she awaits arraignment in Vermilion County Court on a charge of second-degree murder.
Members of the public are reminded that a complaint is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
The investigation into this incident continues and no other information is being released at this time.

UDPATE: The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office has identified the 58-year-old man involved in the reported hit-and-run on 07/16/2023 at Bowman and Griggs as Michael J, Woestman, of Danville. The decedent was struck by a vehicle and succumbed to his injuries.
