Danville Light Opera is presenting their Junior Musical, THE LION KING, this weekend at the Fischer Theater.
Silas VanCamp, who plays Young Simba, recently joined Laura Williams on 1490 WDAN’s Community Connection program, and gave everyone a song preview.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: (Singing) I’m gonna be the main event like no king was before. I’m brushing up on looking down. I’m working on my roar.
Also on the show was Isabelle Crippen, who plays Young Nala. She previewed a scene as well.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: Alright, this is it, can we make it. It’s really creepy. (I know, isn’t it great!) We could get in big trouble for this.
Director Bailey Thompson said the length of The Lion King’s junior musical version is in between the movie and the Broadway version, but it leans more towards the movie.
Audio PlayerAUDIO: There are a couple added songs, but the script is almost word for word what the movie is. In the Broadway show they add a lot more songs, some additional scenes, and everything. The junior version is just over an hour. It’s more condensed than the Broadway one, but it is extremely similar to the movie.
Freewill donations are asked for anyone who stops by the Fischer to see DLO’s Junior Musical performance of the Lion King. There are four performances: this Friday the 21st at 7 PM, Saturday the 22nd at 2 and 7 PM, and Sunday the 23rd at 2 PM.
