A community basketball and cheer camp event will be hosted by the It Takes a Village Mentorship; Saturday, July 29th at the David S. Palmer Arena. As Pastor LeStan Hoskins tells us, this will be an all day event.
AUDIO: In the morning, Sharda Pascal, she’s the cheerleading coach for Danville Area Community College. She’s going to host a cheerleading camp that’s going to be from 9 to 12. And then Chris Bell, he does training; he’s going to run the basketball camp, that’s going to be from 1 to 4. So then later, we’re going to have an adult community basketball game.

And as for that 5 PM adult community basketball game, here are just some of the folks you may see out on the court.
AUDIO: Senator Paul Faraci; Chris Hightower; Ted Houpt, he’s a retired teacher. We’re going to have a police officer as well. So, it’s going to be various people coming together to play basketball; to bring our city together. There’s going to be food trucks.
Also out on the court will be Pastor Hoskins himself, DHS Principal Jacob Bretz, DHS Assistant Principal Scott Vogel, and Danville Deputy Police Chief Terry McCord.
Some of the cheerleader camp girls will be performing at halftime of that community game. For more information on attending this “On the Court for a Cause” event, and being part of the basketball or cheer camp, go to the It Takes a Village Mentorship Facebook page.
