A statement has been released from “Citizens to Elect Mike Marron” that Marron will not be seeking reelection as Illinois State Representative in the 104th District in 2024.
The statement closes with Marron saying “Thank you to everyone who was a part of my successes over the years. It really has been a humbling experience. It is time to focus on my family’s farm and spend more time with my wife and daughter. After all, there is so much more to life than politics.”
Speaking with Neuhoff Media later in the day, Marron said he’s been going through some changes in his life, and thinking about this for quite a while.
AUDIO: I just have a lot more on my plate with trying to take over the family farm completely after my dad’s retirement. And wanting to spend more time with my family, so it’s something that I’ve been giving a lot of thought for a while.
Marron says he’d love to keep the 104th District Republican, but he can’t say right now who might do that.
AUDIO: I’ve kept this really close to the vest, and haven’t talked to that many people. So I’m not really sure who’s going to emerge as candidates.
Marron says he certainly won’t rule out politics in the future; but right now, he’s very much ready to step away.
