The Danville Dans Prospect League baseball season has ended with a 6-4 loss to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes in the Wabash River Division title game.
The Dans had tied the game Sunday night at Danville Stadium, with a bottom of the 9th blooper base hit into right field by Trenton Pallas. However, the Dans left the bases loaded; and the game remained tied 4-4 going into the 10th inning.
After the 10th inning, several hours of rain began; and the game was moved to Normal for resumption at 3 PM today (Monday, Aug 7th).
Springfield, who qualified for the division title game by finishing second to the Dans in the second half of the season, pulled out the extra winnings win when the game resumed at Normal’s Corn Crib Stadium.
Coach Eric Coleman and the Danville Dans will be in the record books as the first and second half Prospect League Wabash River Division champions for 2023. The 2023 season will also be remembered for the first half’s 11-game winning streak that turned the season around; and the Dans’ 1,000th regular season win in franchise history.
Springfield, meanwhile, now head for Chillicothe, OH to play the defending league champions; Tuesday night, August 8th; for the Eastern Division title.
